Get into the Holiday Spirit at ‘Christmas at the Courthouse’ on Dec. 6
The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury is decking the halls in preparation for the “Christmas at the Courthouse” celebration, which will take place 3-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, at the Calcasieu Courthouse, 1001 Ryan St., Lake Charles.
The celebration began in 2015 to honor late Police Juror James Mayo, who had a goal to light up the Historic Courthouse for the holidays.
Santa and Mrs. Claus, the Grinch, Rudolph, Frosty, Elf on the Shelf – and a handful of other holiday characters - will be on site to spread Christmas cheer and to pose for photos with residents of all ages.
“Christmas at the Courthouse is a wonderful family event. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there for pictures, along with many other fun Christmas characters,” said Shelly Mayo, Police Jury President. “Come out and enjoy the fun, refreshments and the free movies.”
The F.K. White Jazz Band the Maplewood Elementary chorus will perform Christmas favorites. At 5:30 p.m., Police Jurors will flip on the lights.
After the lights go on, plan to stick around to watch a couple of classic Christmas favorites – “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964)” and “The Smurfs: A Christmas Carol” on the big screen.
Free popcorn, cotton candy, soft drinks and hot chocolate will served at the event.
