American Job Center Can Help Dislocated Workers Find Jobs, Education Assistance

Post Date:06/24/2020

Are you looking for a job or thinking about going back to school? If so, the American Job Center can help.

The center, temporarily housed on the sixth floor of the Magnolia Building, 1011 Lakeshore Drive in Lake Charles, can help job seekers in the five-parish area who have been laid off from their jobs and may assist residents with financial assistance if they want to attend training.

Employment opportunities available now include, but are not limited to, temperature readers, custodians, information technology workers, food bank workers, laborers and customer service representatives. Employment opportunities may last up to one year.

The American Job Center can also aid residents with financial assistance for training programs and certifications such as Class A Commercial Driver’s Licenses, Forestry, Certified Medical Assistants and more.

With restrictions on building capacity still in place, residents are being asked to call the office in advance at 337-721-4010 to make appointments. Face masks are strongly recommended.

In addition, businesses or organizations that need additional employees - temperature readers, custodians, customer service representatives, etc. - as a result of COVID-19 are encouraged to contact the American Job Center at 337-721-4010 for help.
