By definition, adjudicated property is property that has been placed in state or local governmental hands because local property taxes have not been paid and sequentially have not been redeemed by the debtor. Louisiana law authorizes governmental bodies having jurisdiction over these properties to sell or donate only those that have been adjudicated since January 1, 1975.
Adjudicated property sales for Calcasieu Parish are handled by the Adjudicated Property Section of the Planning & Development Division of the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury. Our auctions are held the last Tuesday of February, April, June, August and October, unless it falls on a holiday. To be added to our mailing list or for questions concerning adjudicated property sales or procedures, contact our office by calling 337-721-3600 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org .
How to Obtain Information on an Adjudicated Parcel:
When you have located a parcel in which you have an interest on the Adjudicated Property map, use the Calcasieu Parish Assessor’s website to obtain the legal description of the parcel. (Note: Adjudicated Property No., Parcel No. and Assessment No. are all the same number)
Click on Property Search enter the Parcel Number. Ensure that there are eight (8) digits – you may need to add zeros (00) before the number to get the eight digits. Example: If the Parcel number is 112234, you would need to enter 00112234 to pull up the information.
Click Search. Click on the details button which will bring you to the information on the parcel. The Assessor’s office can print a plat for you if the legal description does not indicate the dimensions of the parcel.
***The tentative date for the next regularly scheduled Adjudicated Property sale is at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 28. The deadline to submit new parcels to be included in the April sale is Friday, Feb. 14.
