**Due to the nature of soils in south Louisiana and their effects regarding foundation settlement issues, it is strongly recommended to consult with a geotechnical engineer about soils testing and a structural engineer/architect regarding proper foundation design for your project.**

Permits are required prior to beginning:

  • any type of construction or remodeling/renovations project,
  • moving a manufactured home, modular, or portable building,
  • installation of electrical wiring, mechanical equipment, plumbing piping, or gas piping,
  • re-roofing, or
  • demolitions.

The Division of Planning and Development strives to simplify and streamline the permitting process, so please feel free to contact our office to speak with a permit official by phone at (337) 721-3610 or by e-mail at  .  For more information on our permitting process and what is required for application submittal, please see our checklists/fee schedules page.
