General Information

The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury initiated  a three-year program in early 2012 throughout all unincorporated areas of the Parish to inspect approximately 33,000 individual home mechanical sewer systems.

According to the Louisiana Department of Health & Hospitals, residents could be putting their family’s health at risk if malfunctioning units are discharging improperly treated wastewater.

The Division of Planning and Development will lead the effort with a team of certified Code Enforcement Officers. If a home mechanical sewer system is not functioning properly, the owner of the property will be required to take action to correct any deficiencies.

Residents will receive reminder notices of the inspection program in the mail within 4 week's time of the Inspectors entering the general vicinity of their area.

Throughout the inspection process, the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury is committed to providing assistance with questions or issues that may arise.  It is the hope of all entities involved with this comprehensive program that Calcasieu Parish will improve its level of public health for all to enjoy in the future.
